The Floating Soundbath Immersion - The Yoga Barn

A sound bath is an immersion in sound - or to be more specific, waves of soothing, echoing sound vibrations.

The reference to the 'bath' is simply to convey the idea of bathing in sound. And to confuse you even more, we have our very own version at The Yoga Barn as we add the extra special element of 'Floating'. This again has no water involved (it's not a silly question!) but instead, you are floating inside a silk hammock, raised about a foot from the floor in your own little cosy cocoon!

This allows you to be bathed from all directions in the powerful vibrations of the drum, followed by the more gentle and soothing crystalline bowls and chimes. Many describe this as a form of meditation as you may experience a sensation of stillness in your body and mind whilst cocooned inside your silk.

Sound bathing has been used for thousands of years to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system and induce a deep sense of peace and calm. The impact on wellbeing can be found long after the bathing has come to an end. Many of our students find they have a wonderful night's sleep after one of these sessions as well as feel deeply relaxed and peaceful.
